What is Shab e Meraj?
It is a night when the chief angel, Jibra`eel-e-Ameen came to Muhammad (PBUH), the messenger of Allah with an extremely swift transport (the Buraaq). Muhammad (PBUM) traveled with extreme honor and respect to Bayt-ul-Muqaddas in no time where all the prophets welcomed him. Then Muhammad (PBUH) led the prayer of all prophet. It is a night, in which he (PBUH) visited all the heavens and reached Sidra-tul-Muntaha. where no one ever enters before even the chief of angels, Jibra’eel-e-Ameen.
Special Gift of Shab e Meraj
It is the special night in which, Muhammad (PBUH) was blessed with special gift of fifty (50) prayers by Allah, which were reduced to five (5) and made compulsory for all Muslims. The beloved prophet (PBUH) was blessed with the special closeness to Allah and he (PBUH) saw the creator.
Shab e Meraj and Quran
The Muslims observe that night with salvation and worship because people are shown grace on that precious night. To highlight the significance of Shab e Meraj following verses of holy are cited:
Holy is He who carried His bondman by night from the sacred Masjid to the Aqsa Masjid around which we have placed blessings that We might show him Our grand signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing. (Part 15, Surah Bani Israel, verse 1)
Importance of Shab e Meraj
Allah blessed the Muhammad (PBUH) with his own sight. This was the wish of Hazrat Musa (AS) and he (AS) prayed that “O my Allah, Let me see you. Allah said you will not be able to see me”. However, Allah himself sent the Jibra`eel-e-Ameen to call his last companion (PBUM) to blessed him with his own sight.
It is considered significant to worship on this holy night, Our belief (Iman) can not be complete without believing that night. Furthermore, that night makes our belief stronger because of miracles happened that night.
