UNICHAR function in Excel

Use

The UNICHAR function returns a Unicode character against a specified number. For example, if you select “36” as the specified number, then the function returns  “$” symbol, which is the Unicode character of the “36” number value.

Example

Syntax

UNICHAR(number)

where the number is a specified numeric value against which the Unicode character is required.

Important Notes

  • The function was first introduced in the 2013 Excel version and categorized under text functions.
  • The function returns #VALUE! error if the number value is supplied “0” or outside the allowable range.
