PROPER function in Excel

Use

PROPER function is used to capitalize each starting letter of a text string while ignoring numbers and punctuation.

Syntax

=PROPER(text),

text in parenthesis is a reference to a cell, which contains a text string to whom you want to capitalize.

Example

To utilize PROPER function, do following simple steps:

1. Select any cell (we have cell B1 in our example), type =PROPER(reference of a cell, to whom you want to capitalize.

2. After pressing enter, Excel will capitalize each starting letter of the sentence.
