LOWER function in Excel

Use

LOWER function is used to get all text strings with lower case letters, ignoring numbers and punctuation formats.

Syntax

=LOWER(text)

Where text is a cell reference in which you want all lower case letters.

Example

To get following text strings in lower case letters, do these steps:

1. Select cell B1, type =LOWER(select A1 cell) and press Enter.

Result.

2. Copy the formula from cell B1 and paste it in cell B2 (or simply go to cell B2 and press Ctrl + D).

Note: In column B, numbers and punctuation are unchanged.
