INFO function in Excel

Use

EXCEL INFO function returns with information about the current operating environment like the number of active worksheets, excel file directory, operating system info and so on.

Syntax

=INFO(type_text)

Where,

(type_text) is used to specify what type of information needed out of seven options provided hereunder:

type_text Information Returned
“directory” Path of the current directory
“numfile” The number of active worksheets currently open Excel Workbooks
“origin” Returns with current visible cell at upper left
“osversion” Current operating system version
“recalc” Current recalculation mode (either “Automatic” or “Manual”)
“release” Release version of Microsoft Excel
“system” Current operating environment (“mac” = Macintosh or “pcdos” = Windows)
