DOLLAR function in Excel

The DOLLAR function returns with text from a number value using currency format, with the decimals rounded to the number of specified places.

Example

The DOLLAR function mentioned below converts a number to text, at different decimal places. 

Note that numbers stored as text are a common cause of spreadsheet errors, because, functions like SUM, MIN, and  MAX etc. ignore them.

Syntax

DOLLAR(number, [decimals])

where,

number – The number to convert.

[decimals] – The number of digits to the right or left of the decimal point.
