COUNTIFS function

Use

The COUNTIFS function counts the number of cells based on single or multiple criteria. In our example, we will count cells with number values greater than 30 and smaller than 50.

Syntax

=COUNTIFS(criteria_range1, criteria1, [criteria_range2, criteria2]…)

where,

criteria_range1 (A4:A9)- The range of cells to count based on criteria1.

criteria1 (“>30”) –  The criteria, to count greater than 30 on range1 (criteria_range1)

criteria_range2 – The 2nd range of cells to count based on criteria2

criteria2 – The criteria to use on range2 (criteria_range2) (e.g. “<50”, count smaller than 50 in range2)

Example

1– Type =COUNTIFS, select cell ranges A4:A9 to count based on critera1, which is to count greater than 30.

2– Select range2 and criteria2, A4:A9 and “<50”.

3– Result.
