COUNTA function in Excel

Use

The COUNTA function counts the total number of cells that are not empty in a selected range.

Description

The function counts cells that include e.g. numbers, text, error values, and, logical values. In our example, we will count six cells containing different values.

Syntax

=COUNTA(value1, [value2], …)

The COUNTA function has following arguments:

value1 – The values that you want to count.

[value2] – [optional argument] The values that you want to count up to a maximum 255 arguments.
