COUNT function in Excel

Use

Calculates how many cells/numbers are present in a selected range of cells.

Description

The COUNT function count numbers of cells that contain values. In the values, the function will calculate only numbers, dates, and text representation of numbers like “5”.  To count based on a single criterion, you may use the COUNTIF function and to count logical, error, or text values, use the COUNTA function.

Syntax

=COUNT(value1, [value2], …) where,

value1 – The range of cells to count.

[value2] – The optional argument, used to represent up to 255 additional ranges within which you want to count cells.

Example

1– Type =COUNT and the select range of cells to count. e.g. from A4:A9.

2– Result.
