Absolute Values (ABS function) in Excel

Use

ABS function is used to turn negative values to positive one or find the absolute value of a number.

Syntax

=ABS(number)

where the number is a cell reference with a real number of which you want the absolute value.

Example

To convert above mentioned real numbers to absolute values, do the following steps:

1.  Select B1 cell and type =ABS then select cell reference of the A1 cell and press Enter.2. Copy B1 cell to paste formula to desired cells by pressing Ctrl + C.

3. Select a cell range from B2 cell to B6 by pressing & holding Shift key + Arrow down key,

after selection of particular area press Ctrl + V.

4. Result.

All negative values have been transferred to absolute values with no negative signs.
