By using the COUNTIF function, we can count cells that begin with a specified criteria. In our example, we will count those cells that contain “RBC”.
How the formula works
The formula used above has following arguments:
range (A5:A9) – The range of cells to count based on the criteria.
criteria (“RBC*”) – The criteria to count only those cells that begin with “RBC”, where the symbol (“*“) is an asterisk means “match any number of characters”.
