Count Functions

Count blank cells only

To count blank cells only, use the COUNTBLANK function.

In our example, we have only two blank cells.

Count cells that are not empty

Use the COUNTA function to count cells that are not empty.

To count cells from the selected range of cells, use the COUNT function.

Count with criterion (Singular of criteria)

To count cells based on a criterion, use the COUNTIF function.

In above screenshot, we count cells based on the criterion of ‘count cells that contain text with letter A’, and these cells are also highlighted with green color.

Count based on double criteria

To count cells based on more than one criterion, use the COUNTIFS function.

In above example, we count cells based on criteria of ‘count cells with number values greater than 30 and smaller than 50’.
